Imphal: In a brazen attack on a security post, unidentified gunmen looted a significant amount of arms and ammunition from an India Reserve Battalion (IRB) outpost in the Kakmayai area of Thoubal district, Manipur, authorities confirmed on Sunday.
The gunmen, traveling in multiple vehicles, stormed the IRB outpost late on Saturday night, overpowering the personnel stationed there.
According to officials, the attackers made off with a substantial cache of weapons, including at least six Self-Loading Rifles (SLRs) and three AK rifles.

In addition to the firearms, the assailants also stole around 270 rounds of ammunition and 12 magazines, which were being stored at the outpost.
The theft has prompted a swift response from the local authorities, with additional security forces being deployed to the area.
A thorough search operation is currently underway as officials intensify efforts to locate the perpetrators.
Meanwhile, an investigation into the incident is also ongoing to determine the identity of those responsible and the motive behind the attack.
