Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh announced on Wednesday that around 500 youth from the state will undergo skill training in Delhi for cabin crew roles in airlines, with priority given to internally displaced persons (IDPs).
The initiative will be funded by the Ministry of Tourism.
Speaking at a programme, Singh highlighted the state government’s efforts to support those affected by ethnic conflict.
He noted that 17 startups have already employed around 432 IDPs.
Additionally, prefabricated houses have been constructed in the Phubala area of Bishnupur district to provide safer living conditions for displaced individuals.
“So far, around 2,500 prefabricated houses have been occupied,” he said.
Singh also detailed various welfare schemes aimed at improving the lives of the state’s residents.
The Chief Minister-gi Hakshelgi Tengbang, launched in 2018, addresses the medical needs of the poor and vulnerable, while the Sotharabasin-gi Tengbang initiative focuses on the welfare of differently-abled persons.
Through the School Fagathansi Mission, children of labour card holders in relief camps are receiving free education in government schools.

The Chief Minister-gi Artistes Singi Tengbang provides monthly pensions to around 900 artistes, and the One Family One Livelihood Scheme has benefited thousands of families.
Since May 2023, ethnic violence between Imphal Valley-based Meiteis and hill-based Kukis has claimed over 250 lives and rendered thousands homeless.
Singh reiterated his government’s commitment to providing assistance and fostering rehabilitation for affected communities.
