Imphal: Security forces in Manipur have arrested five individuals, including four militants affiliated with different proscribed outfits, in a series of operations carried out across the state, police said on Saturday.
According to a police statement, one active cadre of the NRFM was apprehended at Imphal International Airport on Friday during a security operation.
In a separate development the same day, a cadre of the UNLF (Pambei) faction along with an associate was arrested from his residence at Khurai Sajor Lairou Pukhri Mapal in Imphal East district.
Security personnel recovered a 9 mm pistol along with a magazine from his possession.
Earlier on Thursday (March 5, 2026), security forces also arrested two militants belonging to different banned outfits from Bishnupur district.
Based on information provided by the arrested individuals, security forces later recovered an HK-33 rifle with a magazine, 38 live rounds of ammunition and three improvised explosive devices (IEDs) from the Takmu lakeside near the Ithing playground in Bishnupur district, the statement added.
