Tibetan spiritual leader, his holiness the Dalai Lama, has announced the release of a new book in March.
The book titled “Voice for the Voiceless: Over Seven Decades of Struggle with China for My Land and My People” offers insights into his decades-long dealings with China.
“In my role as the Dalai Lama, there is no issue more important than what I describe in these pages. My hope is that the book will stimulate fresh thoughts and conversations today and provide a framework for the future of Tibet even after I am gone,” the spiritual leader posted on social media.
The book, a collection of personal, spiritual, and historical reflections, will be released on March 11.
Dalai Lama tells the full story of his struggle with China to save Tibet and its people for nearly seventy-five years.
The Dalai Lama’s life has been defined by his struggle against the People’s Republic of China.
Since the 1950 invasion of Tibet, which he witnessed at age sixteen, and his subsequent exile to India at 25, he has tirelessly worked to protect Tibet and its distinct identity—language, culture, religion, history, and environment—against a succession of Chinese leaders, from Mao Zedong, Deng Xiaoping, Jiang Zemin, Hu Jintao to Xi Jinping.
Though the Dalai Lama has dozens of books, including autobiographies while in exile, to his credit, the new book recounts the more than seven-decade-long struggle with China, including negotiations, cultural preservation, and advocating for Tibetans under Chinese rule.
According to publisher HarperCollins, the Dalai Lama, through the book, reminds the world of Tibet’s unresolved struggle for freedom and the hardship his people continue to face in their own homeland.
He offers his thoughts on the geopolitics of the region and shares how he was able to preserve his own humanity through the profound losses and challenges that threaten the survival of Tibetans.

This book chronicles the Dalai Lama’s extraordinary journey: from losing his homeland to repressive invaders and building a life in exile to confronting the existential crisis of his nation, people, culture, and religion, and envisioning a path forward.
In the book, the Tibetan spiritual leader shares both the pain and enduring hope of his people’s struggle for dignity and freedom.
