In a celebration of fine spirits from around the globe, the 2024 London Spirits Competition crowned Godawan Century, a distinguished single malt whiskey from India, as the highest scorer in its category.
Not only did Godawan Century clinch the top spot in the single malt whiskey segment, but it also secured recognition as the standout product representing India on the international stage.
With an impressive score of 96 points, the tasting notes provided by the London Spirits Competition paint a vivid picture of Godawan Century.
Exuding tropical notes, a lighter palate, and a short finish, connoisseurs would be able to experience a delightful sweetness on the palate, accentuated by subtle hints of caramel, charcoal, cinnamon, and anise, leading to a long, dry finish that lingers on the senses.
The unique arid climate surrounding Godawan contributes to a special “Angel’s share” phenomenon during maturation, infusing the whiskey with a distinct flavour profile that captivates the senses.
To further enhance its appeal, Godawan is matured in specially selected casks infused with Indian botanicals, adding depth and character to the final product.
Introduced as a bespoke collector’s edition single malt, Godawan Century pays homage to the endangered Great Indian Bustard, fondly known as Godawan, on its first anniversary.
With only 100 bottles in existence, each holding significant value, the release underscores the brand’s commitment to environmental conservation and the preservation of India’s natural heritage.
In addition to Godawan Century’s triumph, both Godawan Single Malt Rich and Rounded Artisan Whisky and Godawan Single Malt Fruit and Spice Artisan Whisky received gold medals at the competition.
Crafted with precision by Diageo India, the masterminds behind the single malt whisky, the spirit reflects its rich heritage and origin.
Inspired by the ethos of Rajasthan, Godawan embraces sustainability and the beauty found in scarcity throughout its production process.
What sets the London Spirits Competition apart is its careful evaluation process, with a focus on quality, value, and packaging—all with the end consumer in mind.
