GUWAHATI: Devotees of ISKCON in Ulubari are celebrating ‘Nityananda Trayodashi’, marking the auspicious appearance day of Lord Nityananda, on Thursday.
The festivities will unfold with a series of spiritual activities and devotional services at the serene premises of Sri Sri Rukmini Krishna Mandir, located in South Sarania.
Nityananda Trayodashi holds profound significance in the hearts of devotees as it commemorates the divine advent of Lord Nityananda, revered as the incarnation of Lord Balaram, the elder brother of Lord Krishna.
As per scriptures, Lord Nityananda embodies the essence of mercy, bestowing blessings upon devotees to attain the divine love of Lord Krishna and ultimately find their way back to Godhead.
The event organisers have meticulously arranged a day-long programme inviting all devotees to partake in the celebration at Sri Sri Rukmini Krishna Mandir.
Highlighting the importance of Lord Nityananda, His Holiness Jayapataka Swami, ISKCON Governing Body Commissioner, delivered an insightful talk shedding light on the divine pastimes of Lord Nityananda.
“When Lord Nityananda appeared, it is called Garbha-vasa, where He resided in the womb of His mother, Padmavati, and His father was Hadai Ojha. As a child, He engaged in playful activities, often enacting dramas portraying various divine pastimes. His role in the Rama-lila as Laksmana is particularly poignant,” remarked His Holiness Jayapataka Swami.
Sharing an anecdote from the pastimes of Lord Nityananda, Swami narrated, “During one enactment of the Rama-lila, Nityananda, portraying Laksmana, was struck by a special poisoned arrow. His condition rendered Him unconscious, symbolising the depth of His sacrifice and compassion. Even in His unconscious state, the divine play continued, highlighting the eternal nature of His grace.”
The name “Nityananda” itself carries profound significance, translating to “everlasting joy”, reflecting the eternal bliss emanating from the divine presence of Lord Nityananda.
Notably, the main temple of ISKCON in Vrindavan, Uttar Pradesh, is aptly named Sri Sri Krishna Balaram Mandir, further underscoring the inseparable bond between Lord Krishna and Lord Balaram.
As devotees eagerly anticipate the celebrations of Nityananda Trayodashi, they are reminded of the eternal joy and mercy bestowed by Lord Nityananda, guiding them on the path of devotion towards Lord Krishna – the ultimate source of divine love and transcendental bliss.
