GUWAHATI: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has officially released dates for the Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations slated for 2024.
The examinations for both classes are slated to kick off on February 15, 2024, continuing until April 2, 2024, for Class 12, and March 13, 2024, for Class 10.
A notable departure from tradition, the Board has decided that the first day of exams will feature two sessions, from 10.30 am to 1.30 pm and 10.30 pm to 2.30 pm.
Subsequent days will follow schedules comprising one, two, three, and four sessions.
Highlighting the planning, Exam Controller Sanyam Bhardwaj said that the date sheets were crafted to ensure adequate intervals between successive subjects.
The scheduling of Class 12 exams also takes into account the dates of crucial competitive exams such as the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE).
Last year, Class 10 achieved an impressive overall pass percentage of 93.12%. Out of 21,658,05 candidates, 20,167,79 successfully passed.
Meanwhile, Class 12 recorded an overall pass percentage of 87.33%, with Trivandrum district securing the top spot at 99.91%. The girls’ pass percentage stood at 90.68%.
In terms of registration, a total of 16.9 lakh candidates enrolled for the Class 12 board exams last year, comprising 7.4 lakh female students and 9.51 lakh male candidates.
