British Council, in collaboration with the UK government, has announced the GREAT Scholarships 2024.
The campaign provides aspiring students from the country an opportunity to pursue postgraduate studies in the UK starting from autumn 2024.
Under this programme, 25 UK universities are extending 26 postgraduate GREAT scholarships to Indian students, encompassing a diverse array of fields such as Finance, Marketing, Business, Psychology Design, Humanities, Dance, and more.
Each scholarship, valued at a minimum of £10,000, is designated to cover tuition fees for a one-year postgraduate course in the UK for the academic year 2024-25.
Expanding the horizons of educational prospects for the youth of the region, the GREAT Scholarships 2024 includes two scholarships specifically tailored for Justice and Law studies, in collaboration with the Ministry for Justice.
These scholarships, offered at select higher education institutions known for their excellence in legal education, provide avenues for Indian students to delve into various legal domains including human rights, property law, criminal justice, and commercial law.
Additionally, the programme encompasses four Science and Technology scholarships across four distinguished UK universities.
Indian students are encouraged to explore courses ranging from Artificial Intelligence to Sustainable Engineering and Psychology, among others, offered by these esteemed institutions.
The overarching objective of the GREAT Scholarships initiative is to democratise access to UK education in India.
With a substantial number of Indian students opting for UK education annually, exceeding 133,237, the scholarships aim to reinforce the enduring ties between the UK and India while fostering an inclusive environment that welcomes students from all walks of life.
Prospective applicants for the scholarships are required to have received an offer of entry from one of the participating universities and meet all the entry prerequisites specified by the respective institution.
