GUWAHATI: In a bid to promote the unexplored beauty of the Northeast, the Ministry of Railways, in collaboration with IRCTC Ltd, is launching the “North East Discovery” luxury fortnight-long train tour.
This specially curated tour, operated by the Bharat Gaurav Deluxe AC Tourist train, is set to embark on its journey on November 16 from New Delhi.
The “North East Discovery” tour is designed to cover some of the most culturally significant places in Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, and Tripura. With a focus on boosting tourism in the less-travelled Northeast, this initiative has garnered significant attention and anticipation.
The train will commence its journey from the Delhi Safdarjung Railway Station, and over a span of more than 15 days, it will explore diverse destinations such as Guwahati in Assam, Unakoti and Agartala in Tripura, Sivasagar, Jorhat, and Kaziranga in Assam, Dimapur and Kohima in Nagaland, and Shillong and Cherrapunji in Meghalaya.
What sets this luxury train tour apart is its commitment to modern amenities. The train boasts two dining cars/restaurants, a contemporary kitchen equipped with flameless cooking, shower cubicles in AC I and AC II coaches, sensor-based washroom facilities, foot massagers, and even a mini library.
With a total capacity of 204 passengers, the train offers various classes, including 2 AC Class (48 seats), AC I Coupe (24 berths), AC I Cabin (48 berths), and 3AC (84 berths).
While offering a remarkable travel experience, the “North East Discovery” tour package rates starts at Rs 87,755 per passenger for 3rd AC. For a more luxurious experience, travellers can opt for 2 AC and 1 AC Cabin at Rs 1,42,310 and Rs 1,35,045 per passenger, respectively.
