Passengers at Ahmedabad airport on January 11 were in for unexpected scenes as the IndiGo team, dressed elaborately as characters from the epic Ramayana, made their way through the terminal.
The video capturing the unusual boarding announcement by an employee dressed as Lord Ram quickly became viral, showcasing a creative blend of tradition and modernity.
The symbolic gesture was not just limited to Lord Ram alone, with IndiGo staff members dressed as Lakshman and Sita also adding to the immersive experience.
The video shows one employee, dressed as Lord Ram, graciously kneeling while another, portraying Lakshman, bows with folded hands.
The enchanting sight left passengers and onlookers in awe, with a smattering of applause echoing through the airport.
This cultural celebration comes ahead of the much-anticipated consecration ceremony of the Ram Temple on January 22 in Ayodhya.
In a move to enhance connectivity to the sacred city, IndiGo commenced services between Ayodhya and Delhi from January 11, with plans to operate flights connecting Ayodhya and Ahmedabad three times a week.
The inaugural flight from Ayodhya to Ahmedabad was virtually flagged off by Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia from the national capital on January 11.
He also shared insights into the expansion plans for Ayodhya airport, emphasising the extension of the runway to accommodate larger aircraft and facilitate international flights.
With Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath anticipating around 100 chartered flights at the Ayodhya airport for the momentous Ram temple consecration ceremony, IndiGo’s unique and culturally rich approach adds a touch of divinity to the travel experience for passengers heading to the sacred city.
