Tension gripped Mumbai’s Bandra area on Sunday morning as two unidentified assailants on a motorcycle fired multiple rounds outside Bollywood superstar Salman Khan’s residence, Galaxy Apartments.
No casualties or injuries were reported in the incident that occurred around 4:51 am.
Eyewitnesses recounted the harrowing moments when the assailants unleashed three rounds of gunfire before making a swift getaway.
Law enforcement agencies swiftly responded to the scene, with the crime branch, local police, and forensic teams conducting a thorough investigation.
Forensic experts recovered bullet casings, providing critical evidence for ongoing inquiries.
The gravity of the situation was underscored by the presence of top police officials, including the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DSP) and Additional DSP, who convened at the DCP office in Mumbai to coordinate efforts and strategise the investigation.
The incident has cast a shadow of concern, particularly in light of previous threats directed at Khan by notorious gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldie Brar.
Reports suggest that the duo had dispatched hitmen to Mumbai with the intent to eliminate the actor.
In a chilling revelation, it emerged that Bishnoi’s aide Sampat Nehra had conducted inspection of Khan’s residence in 2018, before being apprehended by Haryana Police.
Nehra’s interrogation unveiled detailed plans of the attempted attack, thwarted just in time.
Responding to the escalating threat, Mumbai Police have instituted round-the-clock security protocols, with dedicated teams stationed outside Khan’s residence.
Khan himself has been equipped with weapons and granted a personal weapon license for added protection.
This isn’t the first time Khan has faced such dire threats.
Last year, an ominous email purportedly from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang raised alarms, prompting increased security measures.
Similarly, in November, Mumbai Police reassessed Khan’s security posture after an indirect threat surfaced on Facebook, attributed to the same gangster.
