SHILLONG: Amidst the vibrant celebrations at the ongoing Hornbill festival, 19-year-old Rachel Rimeika Jyrwa from Shillong has emerged victorious, bagging the prestigious Miss Hornbill International 2023 title.
The grand finale of the Miss Hornbill International pageant took place in front of a cheering crowd at the Capital Cultural Hall on Saturday.
Rachel, a BA English student at Synod College, Shillong, captivated the audience with her grace and charm, securing not only the winning crown but also the titles of Miss Beautiful Smile and Best Evening Gown.
Rachel’s exceptional performance throughout the competition earned her a generous cash prize of Rs 2 lakhs, along with Rs 30,000 for her outstanding performance in various subtitles.
Hailing from Mawlai, Shillong, Rachel has always been passionate about fashion and modelling.
Her journey to success began when she won the First Runner’s Up title in Miss Shillong 2023.
Now, with her latest achievement, Rachel is set to sign a promising one-year contract with Vogue Nagaland.
The Miss Hornbill International pageant attracts participants from different parts of India and its neighbouring countries.
This year, 14 contestants competed for the crown, including representatives from Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Tripura, Mizoram, Nepal, and Meghalaya.
The pageant is managed and produced by Vogue Entertainment Nagaland, with the support of Nagaland Tourism, Art and Culture, Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency, and the Sericulture Department of the Government of Nagaland.
