Guwahati: Bollywood has picked up a chapter from Assam’s ‘dark history’ of ‘secret killings’, and has given it the shape of a film – Shadow Assassins.

Directed by national award-winning filmmaker Nilaanjan Reeta Datta, Shadow Assassins will be released on Friday in more than 300 cinema halls across India.

The film is based on the story of a family devastated by ‘secret killings’ in Assam in the late 1990s. The film has also taken a lot of input from Justice (retd) K. N. Saikia’s Commission’s report.

The entire team, including the producer and director of Shadow Assassins were in Guwahati to promote the film.

Bollywood actress Mishti Chakraborty, who acted in the film, said she is very proud to be part of such a sensitive film. Ashu Chakraborty is the music director of the film.

Anurag Sinha, who played the lead role in the film, said people outside Assam are still unaware of such horrifying stories in the history of Assam. “

Rakesh Chaturvedi Om, who played the role of an Assamese police officer, urged the people of Assam to watch the film.

Hemant Kher, who has been a popular actor for the web series Scam 1992, was also part of the film. Bengali actor Soumya Mukherjee also had a role in the film.

Nilaanjan Reeta Datta, director of Shadow Assassins said the film will not be available on any online platform and appealed to the people of Assam to watch it in cinema halls.

A special screening of Shadow Assassins was organised on December 6 at Jyoti Chitraban in Guwahati.
