Mumbai: A threatening message targeting Bollywood actor Salman Khan was sent to the Mumbai traffic police’s WhatsApp helpline on Sunday, prompting authorities to register a case.
The sender threatened to attack Khan’s car and enter his residence to assault him, according to a police official.
The message, received at the traffic police control room, was immediately reported to senior officers, leading to a case being filed by the Worli police under Section 351(2)(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for criminal intimidation.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the matter.
This is not the first time the 59-year-old actor has faced threats. Khan had previously been targeted by the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, whose members were allegedly involved in a shooting outside his Bandra residence last year.

Following that, the Navi Mumbai police claimed to have uncovered a plot to harm Khan during his visits to his Panvel farmhouse.
Bishnoi, currently imprisoned in Ahmedabad’s Sabarmati jail on charges including attempted murder and extortion, remains under scrutiny in connection with these threats.
