The fifth instalment of the popular Golmaal franchise is taking shape, with Golmaal 5 set to introduce a fresh twist to the long-running comedy series.
Directed by Rohit Shetty, the upcoming film is reportedly being developed as a fantasy comedy and will feature a female villain for the first time in the franchise’s history.
The comedy ensemble franchise was started in 2006, titled “Golmaal: Fun Unlimited”. Two years later, a sequel was made, “Golmaal Returns”, followed by “Golmaal 3” in 2010 and “Golmaal Again” in 2017.
According to reports, ‘Golmaal 5’ will bring back the familiar team of mischief‑prone characters led by Ajay Devgn, Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade and Kunal Khemu. Actor Sharman Joshi is also reportedly making a comeback this time, reviving a connection to the original film.
However, the upcoming instalment will mark a departure from the earlier films in terms of storytelling. The fifth part of the Golmaal franchise is said to be a fantasy comedy, introducing elements of magic, surreal situations and imaginative concepts alongside the trademark humour.
Another major first for the franchise will be the introduction of a female antagonist, marking a significant change in the Golmaal series’ long-established format.
Fronted by Ajay Devgn, the series revolves around a group of mischievous, aimless friends, Gopal (Devgn), Madhav (Arshad Warsi), Laxman (Shreyas Talpade, Sharman Joshi, and Kunal Khemmu) and Lucky (Tusshar Kapoor), who get into absurd, chaotic situations.
Other familiar faces like Johnny Lever, Ashwini Kaleshkar, Mukesh Tiwari and Sanjay Mishra are also expected to return.
