AIZAWL: Mizoram and Meghalaya are poised to bring back the nostalgic ’90s this December as both the state governments have extended invitations to the Dutch Eurodance group Vengaboys to headline festivals in each state.

The four-member ensemble will first grace the Winter Festival 2023 in Mizoram on December 7 followed by the Me’Gong Festival in Meghalaya on December 9, announced their official website.

To be held at Lammual Stadium in Aizawl on December 7, the Winter Festival 2023 festival itinerary was announced by the state Tourism Department post a meeting on Tuesday.

“This Winter Festival 2023 – Mizoram Tourism Mega Event. Join the beat with your old time favourite Vengaboys…in your town (sic),” informed one of the social media handles of the department, along with a few posters for the event.

The line-up for this year promises an eclectic mix of budding and international acts. The Vengaboys will be making a comeback to India, while talented electronic duo Zephyytone will be another pumped-up act to watch out for.

Apart from these names, a host of local artistes too have been added to the line-up – Lilac, Jaui, and cyco, among others – by the organisers, hoping to cater to a lively gathering to the fest.

The tickets for the fest have been made available in five different categories beginning with “General” at Rs 655. For those who would want to have a more immersive experience, can opt among Pavilion (at Rs 1555), Fanpit (at Rs 4255), Central Arena (Rs 1255) and VIP (at Rs 9555).

Since the festival is scheduled to take place four days after the state poll results on December 3, it would be a grand opportunity for the people to celebrate their choice of the new government.
