Assamese musician Joi Barua has paid glowing tribute to Bengal’s deep-rooted musical and cultural heritage, calling it a living legacy of creativity that continues to inspire generations.

“The nature of music is to evoke emotion, to evoke a thought, to let you escape into a different world. That’s the nature of art. That’s the nature of music,” Barua said.
“Bengali music, with its rich legacy, writing, craft, and thought, takes me to a lot of places. Bengal is a very lucky state. It had that kind of learning and people who kept the standards very high. It is also incumbent on the next generation to understand the generational wealth that has been passed down.”
