Guwahati: The promotional poster and first song of the upcoming Assamese film Jaubane Amoni Kore-2 were released at a lively event held at the Rudra Barua Auditorium of Jyoti Chitrabon Studio in Guwahati.

The track, titled Rohedoi Rosoki, has been penned and composed by Palash Surya Gogoi, one of the film’s music directors.

Sung by Dikshu Sarma and Chayanika Bhuyan, the song received an enthusiastic response from the audience present at the launch.

Produced by Ashok Kumar Bishaya and Happy Moni Bishaya under the banner of Lakshmi Narayan Films, the film is slated for release across Assam on October 10.

Ashok Kumar Bishaya returns to the director’s chair, with Barsha Rani Bishaya as associate director.

The screenplay and dialogues have been written by Pranab Baruah and Barsha Rani Bishaya.

The original Jaubane Amoni Kore, released in 1998, is regarded as a milestone in Assamese cinema.

Its success not only revitalised the state’s film industry at a crucial time but also earned enduring popularity for its youthful themes, contemporary music, and relatable characters.

Two years ago, a special event at Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra commemorated the film’s 25th anniversary.

Nearly three decades later, the sequel seeks to capture the spirit of the original while resonating with a new generation of viewers.

The cast blends familiar faces from the first film, including Pranjal Saikia, Nikumoni Baruah, Barsha Rani Bishaya, and Ankkur Bishhaya, with new additions such as Abatosh Bhuyan, Purnada Hazarika, Bhargav Gogoi, Rinayra, Puja Deka, Sudipta Goswami, and several others.

Jaubane Amoni Kore-2 features cinematography by Vali, Kulanandini Mahanta, and Gyan Gautam, and is edited by Ankkur Bishhaya.

The music credits include the late Kshiroda Kanta Bishaya, Palash Surya Gogoi, Manas Barthakur, and Madhusmita Barthakur, while Bhaskar Boruah serves as executive producer.
