IMPHAL: The Manipuri short film, “Lembi Leima,” continues its impressive run, securing yet another award.
At the recently concluded 4th Empty Space International Short Film Festival 2024, lead actress Bala Hijam Nigthoujam was honoured with the Best Actress award.
Produced by Cicada Film Production and RJ Star Production, the film is directed by Mayank Pratap Singh and also stars Bijou Thaangjam, Naveen Jagbir Sandhu, Khonykar Khuraijam, and Niranjoy Luwangcha.
“Lembi Leima,” which served as the opening act for the festival, has now collected a total of 45 awards at various film festivals worldwide.
The festival, held on September 14 and 15, acknowledged her outstanding performance in the film.
This latest recognition further solidifies its critical acclaim and Bala Hijam’s exceptional performance.
Previously, the film won the Best Film (Gold) at the first Northeast Film Festival, Mumbai 2023, and has also been awarded the Best Indian Short Film, Best Actress, and Best Supporting Actor at the Sitannavasal International Film Festival 2022.
Bala Hijam Nigthoujam expressed her gratitude for the latest recognition, emphasizing the film’s continued success and its positive impact on the Manipuri film industry.
In addition to this achievement, Bala’s latest film, Boong, directed by Lakshmipriya Devi, recently premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 5.
