In a shocking incident at Chandigarh airport, Mandi-MP elect, actor Kangana Ranaut has been allegedly slapped by a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel on Thursday.
Ranaut’s political advisor confirmed the incident to some media houses, stating that a female CISF guard had slapped the actress inside the airport.
Emerging reports suggest that the altercation occurred at the airport’s security check at around 3:30 pm and an unverified video of the confrontation has since gone viral on social media.
Reportedly, the CISF officer involved has been identified as Kulwinder Kaur.
It is claimed that Kaur was aggravated by Ranaut’s previous statements against the farmers’ movement, which has been a contentious issue in the region.
Ranaut reportedly departed for Delhi on a Vistara flight following the altercation.
Upon her arrival in the capital, she reportedly met with CISF Director General Nina Singh and other senior officials to discuss the incident.
Ranaut has demanded immediate action against the CISF guard, calling for her removal.
This incident has sparked widespread discussions online, with many weighing in on the altercation.
The root of the confrontation can be traced back to the 2020-2021 farmer protests against the three farm laws of the Centre, a national business daily reported.
During that period, Ranaut faced backlash for allegedly misidentifying a woman farmer from Punjab as Bilkis Bano, an elderly protester from the anti-CAA protests in Delhi’s Shaheen Bagh.
Ranaut had shared a post on social media suggesting that the “Shaheen Bagh Dadi” had joined the farmers’ protests and was “available in 100 rupees”.
The post, which included pictures of two elderly women, was later deleted by the actor after users pointed out the error.
As the incident continues to gain attention, the CISF has yet to issue an official statement regarding the altercation or any potential actions against the personnel involved.
