LeBron James added another remarkable achievement to his legendary NBA career on Tuesday, becoming the first player in league history to score 50,000 combined regular-season and playoff points.
The milestone came during the Los Angeles Lakers’ home game against the New Orleans Pelicans when James sank a three-pointer in the first quarter.
The 40-year-old superstar entered the game with 49,999 total points, and his deep shot marked yet another defining moment in the career of the man known as “King James.”
Already the NBA’s all-time leading scorer in regular-season history—surpassing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s 39-year record in February 2023—James also holds the playoff scoring record, a title he claimed from Michael Jordan in May 2017.

At 40, James is also the oldest player to win the award, breaking Karl Malone’s record set in 2000 at age 37.
