Taylor Swift will not be compelled to give testimony in the ongoing legal dispute between Hollywood stars Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni.
A federal judge has denied Baldoni’s legal team’s attempt to depose the pop superstar as part of discovery in the case.
Lively has sued Baldoni and his production company, Wayfarer Studios, accusing them of sexual harassment and retaliation.
Baldoni’s lawyers sought to extend the discovery deadline to question Swift, arguing her professional commitments—particularly the release of her upcoming album The Life of a Showgirl—prevented her from appearing before the current cut-off date of October 20, 2025.
Judge Lewis Liman rejected the request in a four-page ruling, noting that the defendants failed to show diligence.

“The Wayfarer Parties have offered no evidence that they served a renewed subpoena on Swift,” Liman wrote, adding that logistical challenges alone did not justify an extension.
He pointed out that discovery had been open for six months and that Baldoni’s team had earlier withdrawn a subpoena for Swift’s deposition in May.
Swift’s attorney had previously said the singer did not agree to a deposition but would comply “if forced.” With the ruling, she avoids being drawn further into the high-profile dispute.
At the same time, the court granted Lively a 10-day extension to depose Baldoni and Wayfarer Studios co-founders Steve Sarowitz and Jamey Heath.
