As the excitement for the 2024 TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) continues to build, the tourney’s official broadcaster, JioCinema has pulled out all the stops to bring in an immersive experience for its viewers.
This year, India’s favourite sporting carnival will be brought to fans for free in 12 languages – English, Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Bhojpuri, Punjabi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada, with Haryanvi making its debut.
Siddharth Sharma, Viacom18 Sports Head of Content, expressed his excitement for the upcoming IPL season, stating, “The response we got for our deep and wide presentation of the TATA IPL 2023 was heartening, and we are doubling down on our innovations and initiatives for TATA IPL 2024.”
One of the highlights of this broadcast would be the never-seen-before avatar of one of the world’s most destructive openers, Virender Sehwag.
The former cricketer would be headlining the Haryanavi language broadcast and fans will witness him at his witty best, in his beloved language.
Manvinder Bisla, man of the match of the 2012 IPL Final, will also join Sehwag in the Haryanvi feed.
Ajay Jadeja too will make his debut as a Gujarati language expert. The former India captain and MI Emirates batting coach will also feature in Hindi and Hangout feeds.
In the Bengali commentary box, Jhulan Goswami, the legendary cricketer, will take her place alongside Subhomoy Das, Shreevats Goswami and Anustup Majumdar, among others.
They will analyse every move with precision, providing insightful commentary, keeping the Bengali-speaking viewers glued to their screens.
Meanwhile, in the Bhojpuri section, Ravi Kishan, the renowned actor and politician, will lead charge with Mohd Saif, Shivam Singh, Satya Prakash and Gulam Hussain, among others.
Their commentary is expected to be vibrant and dynamic, reflecting the energy of Bhojpuri culture as they narrated the game, captivating the hearts of Bhojpuri-speaking fans worldwide.
On the Telugu side, Hanuma Vihari, Venkatapathy Raju and Akshath Reddy, among others, formed a formidable team.
Their expert analysis in regional flavour will add flair to the broadcast, ensuring that Telugu-speaking viewers felt right at home.
Together, these diverse groups of commentators are expected to paint a vivid picture of the matches, transcending linguistic barriers and uniting fans from different backgrounds.
In addition to the star-studded expert panel, the official broadcaster will offer a total of 18 feeds this year, including last year’s popular Insiders and Hangout feeds, along with newly introduced features like Hero Cam and Viral Weekend.
With over 100 popular social content creators joining the fray, JioCinema aims to foster engaging conversations and banter on the biggest sports proposition in the country.
