Guwahati: Rohit Basfore, a young actor set to appear in the upcoming season of the acclaimed web series Family Man 3, was found dead under mysterious circumstances near a waterfall in the Garbhanga forest area of Assam on Sunday evening.

Basfore, who had recently returned to Guwahati from Mumbai, reportedly went on a picnic with friends on Sunday afternoon.

According to his family, he left home around 12:30 pm but lost contact with them later in the day. He was declared dead while being taken to a hospital, according to sources.

Local police said the incident occurred around 2 pm near a waterfall where Basfore was spending time with nine companions.

Officers from the Rani Police Outpost are handling the case.

A police official confirmed that the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) recovered the body around 6:30 pm, after receiving an alert at 4 pm.

While authorities have not confirmed any foul play at this stage, Rohit’s family has raised serious concerns.

They allege the death may not have been accidental and have accused several individuals of potential involvement, including a gym owner named Amardeep, who had reportedly invited Rohit to the outing.

The family also pointed to a recent dispute involving three men—Ranjit, Ashok, and Dharam Basfore—as a possible motive.

The body was sent for a post-mortem examination at Guwahati Medical College Hospital, where doctors found multiple injuries, including trauma to the head and face.

Police have launched an investigation and confirmed that four individuals named by the family are currently absconding.

Rohit Basfore had gained attention for his upcoming role in Family Man 3, starring alongside established actors Manoj Bajpayee and Jaideep Ahlawat.

He had shared behind-the-scenes images from the set earlier this year, reflecting his growing presence in the entertainment industry.
