Itanagar: People in Arunachal Pradesh are ecstatic as the newly released horror drama Bhediya, featuring Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon have started to rock the box office.

Last Friday’s release Bhediya picked up pace over the weekend. The film witnessed a jump of nearly 50 percent and opening weekend collection is said to be around Rs 27 crore.

Helmed by Amar Kaushik, successes of Bhediya will definitely a reason for the people of Arunachal Pradesh to rejoice. After all, a large portion of the film has been shot in Arunachal Pradesh.

In addition to the picturesque landscape, a lot of local people of Arunachal Pradesh were part of the film. And, some of them even played side roles.

Even Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Pema Khandu is euphoric with Bhediya’s early success at the box office.

“I’m so delighted to learn #Bhediya is doing so well on #BoxOffice. Filmed in scenic #ArunachalPradesh with local talents, technicians and facilities, we’re confident to see more and more movies being shot in our state,” Khandu tweeted.

The story of the film is about Delhi’s Bhaskar (Varun Dhawan) was assigned to build a road in Arunachal Pradesh. Construction of a road amid the dense forests of Arunachal Pradesh was a difficult job, and convincing the locals was a big headache.

Varun gets bitten by a wolf. He suddenly experiences weird changes in his body and turns into a wolf every full moon night. The main task of Varun’s friends is to stop him from attacking the people of neighbouring villages.
