British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran had an unexpected misadventure with his luxury car recently.
The 34-year-old artist revealed that he accidentally destroyed his Aston Martin, worth around $270,000, after misjudging a puddle on a country lane.
Recalling the incident during a chat with Saltburn star Barry Keoghan on the YouTube series GOAT Talk, Sheeran said he was returning home from the studio when he encountered what seemed like a harmless puddle.
“I thought, ‘I’ll just drive slowly through this puddle,’” he said.
Unfortunately, the water turned out to be much deeper than he anticipated. “I could see it at my windows, and I’m like, ‘Oh f***.’ Then the car stops,” Sheeran recalled.
Despite several attempts to restart the vehicle, the car wouldn’t budge.
“I opened the door, and all this water comes rushing in. I ended up leaving it on the road. Someone collected it, and I haven’t seen it since. Honestly, it’s the worst purchase I ever made,” he admitted.

In a separate revelation, Sheeran spoke about the intense security measures his family now requires. Living on a sprawling estate in Suffolk with his wife Cherry Seaborn and their daughters Lyra and Jupiter, the singer said the need for bodyguards is driven by serious threats.
Speaking to Australia’s 60 Minutes, Sheeran shared: “It’s not just fans wanting selfies. We’ve had attempted break-ins, kidnap threats, and things left on my car. It’s way more sinister than people think. We’ll probably need security for the rest of my life.”
He also admitted to confronting fans who try to photograph his children without permission.
