Did SRK fake injury for publicity?

Was the news about Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan getting injured on the sets of King nothing but a gimmick and a cheap Public Relations (PR) strategy to create some hype around the film?

Well as per a report on NDTV, the rumours “are untrue.”

The portal quotes an authentic source stating, “Shah Rukh has sustained injures during various shoots in the past, some of which occasionally flare up again.

For treatment and care, he often travels to the US. He left for America in the second week of July and is likely to return by the end of this month. “Saturday was all about SRK’s injury with the social media going full throttle sharing posts related to the accident.”

If the NDTV report is to be believed then King Khan has been out of India all this while, so there is little authenticity to the reports that the injury forced him to jet off to USA for treatment.

But why was the news circulated in the first place?

So far there has been no official statement from the actor’s side, however, we aren’t novices to believe that King Khan and his team weren’t aware of the buzz around the injury.

In fact so worrisome were the rumours that even West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee tweeted wishing her brother SRK speedy recovery.

So, should we interpret it as a cheap PR ploy to garner attention for the movie? If that is so, then we are disappointed but at the same time inquisitive too?

King which brings together SRK and his daughter Suhana Khan for the first time is better off without such contemptible stunts?

It has all the ingredients to make headlines anyway.

And what is more puzzling is whether SRK with his revered statute needs to resort to such petty game plans to hog the limelight?

Now even if we have to assume that the rumours floating around were not true, wasn’t it the responsibility on the part of the superstar’s team to give an official clarification allaying concerns of his fans?

What was and still is holding them back?

As a follow up on the SRK injury report, Northeast News while admonishing  perpetrators of fake news, lamented how the social media has now made all and sundry journalists.

But it seems there is a clandestine effort to sell false and fabricated stories by ‘astute’ Public Relations strategists all for the sake of being in the thick of news.

The controversy around Shah Rukh’s injury reminds us of what his friend-turned-foe-turned-friend Salman Khan had wondered once, “Did he have to meet with an accident around the time of the release of my film Jai Ho?”

Need we say more? Do you smell a rat, we do?

The film industry is infamous for such unwarranted tricks and the latest around none other than King Khan who enjoys so much of clout among millions of his fans, is condemnable.

But who knows the truth? It’s like playing with the emotions of those die-hard fans whose love for their idols knows no bounds.
