New Delhi: Acclaimed filmmaker Bobby Sarma Baruah’s Assamese-language drama Rador Pakhi (Morning Sunshine) will have its international premiere at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) 2025.
The film, inspired by the life of writer Sarmistha Pritam — depicted as ‘Jyoti’ on screen — follows a young woman diagnosed with spinal muscular atrophy who, despite being bedridden from an early age, pursues her dream of becoming an author.
Sulakhyana Baruah plays Jyoti, alongside Kamal Lochan, Arun Nath, and Bina Patangi in key roles.

Rador Pakhi premiered in the Indian Panorama section at the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) last year.
Bobby Sarma Baruah also wrote the dialogues and co-produced the film with Sulakhyana Baruah and Basanta Kumar Baruah.
The director is known for her award-winning works including Mishing (The Apparition), which earned the Silver Lotus at the 66th National Film Awards, and Sikaisal (If Only Trees Could Talk), winner of Best Tiwa Film at the 70th National Film Awards.
