Assamese feature film ‘Adi Shakti’ emerged as one of the biggest winners at the major international film gathering ‘Global Cine Confluence 2026 – Delhi Film Convention & Summit 2026’, held in the national capital recently.
In a proud moment for Assamese cinema, the film secured three top honours at the joint celebration of the 18th Jaipur International Film Festival (JIFF) 2026, the 9th New Delhi Film Festival (NDFF) 2026, and the Global Cine Confluence (GCC) – Delhi Film Convention & Summit 2026.
Held from February 13 to15 at the Bharat Mandapam, with the concluding day’s events also hosted at the India International Centre, the combined festival brought together filmmakers, scholars, critics and cinema enthusiasts from around the world for screenings, discussions and cultural exchange.
The three platforms collectively created one of the largest international film gatherings in the country, bringing filmmakers, scholars, critics, and cinema enthusiasts onto a common stage for artistic exchange and dialogue.

The film won the award for Best Feature Film, Indraani Baruah was honoured for Best Original Story, and Arshia Mahanta for Best Debutante Actress.
At its core, Adi Shakti narrates the story of a young woman who resists male domination and breaks the grip of age-old dogmas through courage and conviction.
The film’s success at the festival has been seen as remarkable achievement for Assamese cinema, drawing national and international attention to storytelling emerging from the region.
The festival witnessed an overwhelming global response with over 4,000 film entries and participation from across 60 countries. Along with this, over 600 films in the competition were screened across categories reflecting diverse cinematic traditions and voices from India and other countries including United Kingdom, Italy, France, Germany, USA, Japan, Pakistan, UAE, and Bahrain.
With over 1000 delegates, including filmmakers, students, and industry professionals, the event served as a vibrant meeting ground for emerging talents and established filmmakers from across the world.
