Guwahati: Assamese icon Zubeen Garg’s final film, Roi Roi Binale, is set to release in theatres across 46 cities in India on October 31, including Kochi, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Ahmedabad, and Dehradun.
Directed by Rajesh Bhuyan, the film marks the legendary singer-actor’s final appearance on the silver screen and has already broken advance booking records, fueled by an outpouring of love and emotion following Garg’s untimely and mysterious death in Singapore last month.
According to the production team, October 31 was a release date personally chosen by Zubeen Garg himself.
The film’s pre-release business has crossed Rs 50 lakh, which the producers say is a record figure for the Assamese film industry.
“Ahead of its release, Roi Roi Binale has already recorded nearly Rs 50 lakh in advance ticket sales — an unprecedented milestone in the history of Assamese cinema,” said a member of the film’s production team.
Produced by Zubeen Garg and his wife, Garima, the film tells the poignant story of a visually impaired artiste.
To cater to the overwhelming demand, theatres across Assam have introduced early morning screenings, with some starting as early as 6 a.m. In Guwahati, Roi Roi Binale sold out completely within minutes of ticket bookings opening.
