Guwahati: Assam’s child prodigy Vihaan Upadhyay has earned international acclaim by securing the “Best Film” award at the 10th Global Road Safety Film Festival held recently in Marrakech, Morocco.
His short film ‘Sandwich’ bagged the award for “Best Film” in the category of Sustainable Development Goal 5 – Quality Education on Road Safety.
Congratulating Upadhyay on his remarkable achievement, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote, “An excellent video by Vihaan Upadhyay, a prodigy from Guwahati who brings out the perspective of road safety through his creative lens. His short film ‘Sandwich’ was adjudged the Best Film at the 10th Global Road Safety Film Festival. Good luck for all his future endeavours.”
Vihaan, a Grade IX student at Guwahati-based Royal Global School, conceptualized and wrote the plot of the short film.
The prestigious “10th Global Road Safety Film” festival was held as a part of the Global Ministerial Conference on Road Safety.
The festival was organized by the World Health Organization (WHO) in partnership with the United Nations, the World Bank, the International Road Federation (IRF), and other prominent global organizations dedicated to road safety.
