Filmmaker Rohit Shetty has begun shooting for the fifth instalment of the popular comedy franchise Golmaal 5, bringing together familiar faces along with a new addition that has generated excitement among fans.
The film reunites long-time cast members including Ajay Devgn, Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade and Kunal Kemmu.
This time, actor Akshay Kumar has also joined the ensemble, adding a fresh twist to the franchise.
In a video shared by the makers announcing the start of the shoot, Akshay appeared in a striking new look.
Reacting to his entry into the series, Ajay Devgn jokingly remarked, “Koi franchise nahi chhodta hai ye,” teasing the actor for being part of multiple film franchises.
According to reports, Akshay Kumar is expected to play the antagonist in the upcoming film, marking a new dynamic within the comedic storyline.
Sharing his excitement about joining the project, Akshay posted a message on Instagram wishing Rohit Shetty on his birthday.
“Happy Birthday @itsrohitshetty… On your birthday, the madness just got bigger and louder. Excited to be joining this crazy family of Golmaal 5! Let the chaos begin,” he wrote.

The announcement video also revealed that Sharman Joshi will return to the franchise after nearly two decades.
Joshi had portrayed the original Laxman in the first film of the series, Golmaal: Fun Unlimited, released in 2006.
Marking the beginning of the new shoot, Rohit Shetty shared a message reflecting on the journey of the franchise, which completed 20 years since the release of its first film.
He thanked audiences for their continued support and expressed hope that the new instalment would entertain viewers once again.
“Twenty years ago, the first Golmaal released and changed my life. Over the years we have tried our best to entertain you with honesty. Now my team and I begin another journey with Golmaal 5,” Shetty wrote while seeking the audience’s blessings for the upcoming film.
