Actor Vikrant Massey received the National Award for Best Actor at the 71st National Film Awards, held at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi on Tuesday (September 23).
He was presented with the prestigious award by President Droupadi Murmu.
Notably, the winners of the 71st National Film Awards were announced in August.
Massey shared the National Award for Best Actor with superstar Shah Rukh Khan, who received the award for the film ‘Jawan’.
In a career spanning three decades, Shah Rukh Khan received his first National Award for Jawan, a film that emerged as one of the biggest Hindi hits in recent times, minting more than thousand crore at the box office.
Adding more feathers to their cap, the film 12th Fail also bagged the Best Film award.
Rani Mukerji is being honoured with Best Actress for her performance in the film Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway.
The film is inspired by the real-life story of Sagarika Chakraborty and Anurup Bhattacharya, an Indian immigrant couple whose children were taken away by Norwegian authorities in 2011.
Rani Mukerji received praise for her poignant portrayal of a mother, symbolising inner strength and resilience.
The Dadasaheb Phalke Award, which is the highest film award in the country, is being awarded to Mohanlal, who is known for his performances in some of the best Malayalam films in the last four decades. In 2024, this honour was given to veteran Hindi film actor Mithun Chakraborty.

The Best Director award has been won by Sudipto Sen for The Kerala Story. Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahaani has won the Best Feature Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment, and Sam Bahadur has won the Best Film promoting national, social values.
