The Northeast will get its first semiconductor unit in Assam, which will produce 48 million chips per day, the minister said.
The Tata Group will invest Rs 27,000 crore for the semi-conductor unit in Assam, the minister informed.
The Tata Group has already approached the Assam government to train 1,000 people for employment in the semi-conductor production unit.
The Tata Group’s semi-conductor unit is likely to come up at Hindustan Paper Corporation’s erstwhile Nagaon Paper Mill premise at Jagiroad in Central Assam’s Morigaon district.
