Guwahati: Star Cement Ltd has announced plans to establish a Rs. 3,200-crore cement clinker and grinding plant in Assam.

The announcement was formalised with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Assam government and the company on the concluding day of the Advantage Assam 2.0 Investment and Infrastructure Summit 2025.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, speaking at the summit, expressed gratitude to the participating companies for their commitment to Assam’s growth.

“The investment commitments we have received reflect the state’s potential as a hub for industries and innovation. These projects will significantly contribute to our vision of a developed and self-reliant Assam,” he said.

In addition to Star Cement’s proposal, the Assam government signed an MoU with Matheson Hydrogen Lvt Ltd for a Rs. 1,500-crore hydrogen and steam generation plant.
