Oil India Limited (OIL), one of India’s prominent upstream oil and gas companies, officially started gas production from the Bakhritibba Discovered Small Field (DSF) block in the arid terrains of Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer district on June 1.
OIL has set a benchmark by achieving rapid monetisation from the DSF III block. The company successfully drilled three Multi-Well Pads (MWP) within the development period.
This has enabled the supply of 67,200 Standard Cubic Metres per Day (SCMD) of gas, which is planned to be further increased to 100 Million Standard Cubic Metres per Day (MSCMD) from the Bakhritibba Block.
The teams on the ground operate in some of the most challenging desert conditions to sustain vital energy flows from this frontier region. The block is located in the arid terrains of Western Rajasthan.
The region’s harsh climate and terrain pose significant logistical and technical difficulties.
The Bakhritibba Block’s gas production will significantly contribute to the region’s energy requirements and enhance OIL’s overall output.
“This milestone underscores OIL’s unwavering commitment to resilience, resolve, and responsibility, as teams on the ground operate in some of the most challenging desert conditions to sustain vital energy flows from this frontier region,” the company said in a statement.
The project exemplifies India’s push to enhance domestic oil and gas output and reduce reliance on imports. This achievement strengthens OIL’s position as a key player in the upstream oil and gas sector.
