Kohima: In a significant push to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Act East’ policy, the Quality Council of India (QCI), in partnership with the Nagaland government, launched the ‘Gunvatta Sankalp’ initiative in Kohima.
The programme aims to foster quality-driven growth in key sectors such as healthcare, education, MSMEs, and tourism, reinforcing the state’s sustainable development efforts.
Following successful engagements in Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, and Odisha, ‘Gunvatta Sankalp’ has reached Nagaland, reflecting the Centre’s commitment to promoting excellence in the northeastern states.
The initiative, supported by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, brought together government officials, industry leaders, policymakers, and experts to explore strategies for improving quality standards and forging meaningful partnerships.
Nagaland’s Tourism and Higher Education Minister, Temjen Imna Along, highlighted the state’s commitment to excellence.
He stated that the people of Nagaland embody the spirit of quality and sustainability, emphasising that their aspirations and dedication make them the true brand ambassadors of the state.
He also expressed optimism that quality-driven initiatives would play a pivotal role in shaping Nagaland’s future.

QCI Chairperson Jaxay Shah underscored the significance of empowering Nagaland through quality reforms.
He noted that Nagaland exemplifies sustainability, entrepreneurship, and excellence, making it a role model not just for India but globally.
Shah emphasised that a developed India, or Viksit Bharat, is incomplete without a developed Nagaland.
The event marked a significant step in amplifying the state’s efforts to strengthen quality standards.
It also highlighted the central role of quality-driven initiatives in Nagaland’s journey towards a sustainable, high-quality, and globally competitive future, aligning with the broader vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
