As Lok Sabha election results were declared, paving the way for the BJP-led NDA to return to power, the Indian startup ecosystem experienced a noteworthy funding spree.

The Indian startup ecosystem witnessed an exciting week as various startups collectively raised $97 million in a series of deals.

The fintech sector emerged as a frontrunner in the funding race, with digital lending platform, Fibe, securing a substantial investment of $90 million.

This funding, comprising $65.5 million in primary capital and the remainder via secondary transactions, was led by TR Capital, Trifecta Capital, and Amara Partners.

Akshay Mehrotra, Co-founder and CEO of Fibe, expressed optimism about the startup’s future trajectory, stating that the capital injection would facilitate the expansion of their reach, bolster technological infrastructure, and deepen their impact nationwide.

In the realm of Artificial Intelligence (AI), low-code test automation platform Testsigma raised $8.2 million in funding, led by MassMutual Ventures, building upon an earlier investment of $4.6 million led by VC firm Accel.

Similarly, AI-driven sales prospecting platform Clodura.AI secured $2 million in funding, led by the Bharat Innovation Fund with additional support from Malpani Ventures.

These funds are earmarked for further enhancing AI capabilities and broadening user outreach.

Beyond primary startup funding, leading eyewear retailer Lenskart attained a significant milestone with a $200 million secondary investment from global investment firms Temasek and Fidelity Management and Research Company (FMR).

This substantial funding propelled Lenskart’s market valuation to an impressive $5 billion.

Bengaluru and Mumbai retained their positions as prime hubs for startup funding, underscoring their status as vital centres of innovation and entrepreneurship in India.

The robust infrastructure, abundance of talent, and supportive ecosystem in these cities continue to attract significant investments, reaffirming their pivotal roles in India’s startup landscape.
