New Delhi: The Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has earned a prestigious Guinness World Records (GWR) title for selling the highest number of life insurance policies in a single day.
On January 20, 2025, a staggering 5,88,107 life insurance policies were successfully issued across India by 4,52,839 LIC agents, setting a new global benchmark for the industry.
LIC announced the record-breaking feat on Saturday, calling it a milestone achievement for the company and the insurance sector at large.
The record-setting effort was part of a nationwide campaign dubbed “Mad Million Day”, initiated by LIC Chairman and Managing Director Siddhartha Mohanty, who had appealed to every LIC agent to issue at least one policy that day.
“This extraordinary accomplishment is a testament to the dedication, discipline, and unwavering commitment of our agents. It showcases our mission to provide essential financial protection to millions of Indian families,” LIC said in a statement.
Mohanty expressed gratitude to LIC’s customers, agents, and staff for making Mad Million Day a historic event.
