KOLKATA: IndiGo, a prominent low-cost airline, launched its direct flights from Kolkata to Phuket, Thailand, on Friday, marking a new connection between the City of Joy and the popular Southeast Asian destination.
An official from the Airports Authority of India (AAI) at Kolkata’s Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International (NSCBI) Airport highlighted that this new route aims to cater to the increasing demand for travel between India and Southeast Asia.
The inaugural flight was celebrated with the distribution of boarding passes to passengers by officials from both IndiGo and the airport.
“Exciting news for travelers! IndiGo has launched its daily service from Kolkata Airport to the beautiful Phuket, Thailand,” the Kolkata Airport shared on its official X account.
The post also expressed AAI’s support for IndiGo, emphasizing the role of the airport’s world-class infrastructure and safety measures in facilitating the new route.
The flights from Kolkata to Phuket will operate six days a week, excluding Thursdays.
On Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, passengers can board flight 6E 1901, which departs Kolkata at 6:00 am IST and arrives in Phuket at 10:40 am local time.
On Wednesdays and Saturdays, the departure time is 6:50 am, while on Fridays, it will leave at 7:15 am, and on Sundays, at 6:50 am.
The return flight, 6E 1902, will also operate six days a week. On Mondays and Tuesdays, it will depart from Phuket at 11:40 am local time, reaching Kolkata at 1:20 pm.
On Wednesdays and Saturdays, it leaves at 12:35 pm and lands in Kolkata at 2:20 pm, while on Fridays, it departs at 2:20 pm and arrives at 3:05 pm.
On Sundays, the return flight will leave Phuket at 12:40 pm and reach Kolkata at 2:20 pm.
IndiGo had first announced the launch of this route on November 29, highlighting Kolkata’s growing role as a key regional hub for travel between India and Southeast Asia.
With this new addition to its network, IndiGo is further solidifying its position in the regional aviation market, aiming to meet the surging demand for international travel from Kolkata.
