Kolkata: The IIM Calcutta Innovation Park (IIMCIP) has entered into a partnership with the Assam Innovation and Startup Foundation (AISF) to accelerate entrepreneurship and startup growth in Assam and the wider Northeast.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Jeevan Basavaraj, Secretary of Assam’s Department of Innovation, Incubation and Startups (DIIS), and Ajay Jain, Chairman of IIM Calcutta Innovation Park, in the presence of senior officials from both institutions.
Under the agreement, IIMCIP will extend its expertise in mentoring, funding, and ecosystem building to strengthen AISF’s efforts toward developing a robust and sustainable startup environment in the state.
The collaboration aligns with the Assam Startup Policy 2025, which envisions transforming the state into a key innovation-driven startup hub that fosters job creation and inclusive growth.
Established under the aegis of the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta, IIMCIP is a not-for-profit entity that has mentored more than 2,000 startups and provided seed funding to over 130 ventures.

Collectively, these enterprises have raised more than Rs. 2,000 crore in funding and achieved a combined valuation of around Rs. 8,000 crore, according to the institute.
AISF, a Section 8 company operating under the Assam government’s DIIS, acts as a nodal platform for nurturing entrepreneurial talent, providing incubation support, and facilitating access to markets and investors.
Through this partnership, both organisations aim to establish structured mentorship programmes, enhance startup capacity-building initiatives, and encourage high-impact collaborations.
The initiative will also place a special focus on promoting women-led enterprises and expanding opportunities for innovators from the region.
