GUWAHATI: The Mahindra Group has appointed Assam’s Amarjyoti Barua as the Group Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Mahindra Group’s Finance Organisation, effective from May 17.

Barua, in his previous role, served as the Executive Vice President in charge of Group Strategy, where he played a pivotal role in shaping the group’s strategic initiatives.

His extensive experience and impactful contributions have now positioned him to lead the finance organisation, steering the financial trajectory of the Mahindra Group.

Barua’s appointment follows the resignation of Manoj Bhat, who is slated to assume the role of Managing Director and CEO of Mahindra Holidays Resorts India.

Barua’s journey within the Mahindra Group began on May 15, 2023, when he joined as the Executive Vice President – Group Strategy.

The announcement comes on the heels of Barua’s notable achievements, particularly his leadership in the financial and operational transformation of the Oil Field Services & Equipment (OFSE) sector, a global entity operating in over 120 countries with $14 billion in revenues.

Barua brings a wealth of experience to his new role.

Prior to joining the Mahindra Group, he spent over six years at Baker Hughes, where he served as Senior Vice President for Oil Field Services & Equipment (OFSE).

His extensive background also includes an impressive 18-year tenure at GE, during which he lived and worked in eight different countries across various industry verticals.

Barua, an alumnus of FMS Delhi with an MBA, and a graduate with a Bachelor’s in Economics (Hons) from Hindu College, Delhi University, has cultivated a nuanced understanding of multiple industries through his diverse international experiences.

Barua, who resides in Mumbai with his wife and two sons, also has a personal connection to community service.

His parents run an NGO called Seneh in Assam, and Barua actively supports their initiatives in any way he can.

His appointment is poised to bring fresh perspectives and strategic insights to the Mahindra Group’s journey of growth and development.
