New Delhi: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma met with European Union Ambassador to India, Herve Delphin, on Wednesday to explore collaborative opportunities across various sectors.
During the meeting, Sarma expressed gratitude for the EU’s support at the recently concluded Advantage Assam Business Summit 2.0 held in Guwahati.
The summit highlighted Assam’s potential as a business hub, and the EU delegation’s involvement underscored growing international interest in the region.
The discussions focused on potential partnerships in clean energy, semiconductor manufacturing, higher education, skill development, and the aromatics and fragrances industry, according to an official statement.
Ambassador Delphin shared plans for the EU to establish a Programme Management Office in Guwahati, a move welcomed by Sarma, who assured full support from his government in collaboration with the Ministry of External Affairs.

Sarma later expressed his optimism on social media, stating, “Had a meaningful discussion with @EUAmbIndia on opportunities for collaboration… Glad to learn that the EU is exploring the possibility of opening a Programme Management Office in Guwahati. Assam will fully support it under the guidance of MEA, GoI.”
The meeting reflects Assam’s commitment to strengthening global partnerships and positioning itself as a key player in India’s growth story.
