GUWAHATI: Bharti Airtel, one of India’s leading telecommunications service providers, has announced that it has completed the deployment of the additional spectrum it acquired in July 2024.

The deployment of additional 5 MHz on the 1800 band in Assam and additional 5Mhz on the 2100 band in Assam & Northeast each will give a boost to Airtel’s 5G/4G network capacities, which will improve and enhance data speeds and provide significantly better coverage inside homes and buildings both in urban and rural areas.

The deployment of additional spectrum is now complete and as a result customers across Assam, Mizoram, Tripura, Nagaland, Manipur, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh will enjoy an elevated quality of service both on voice and data.

The deployment will also allow Airtel to offer wider coverage along the highways and rail routes as well as increase its footprint in rural areas as the demand for connectivity continues to rise exponentially.

Rajnish Verma, CEO, Assam and Northeast said, “Airtel’s commitment to superior network performance is unwavering. With the integration of this new spectrum, customers across the state can now enjoy enhanced call connectivity, faster data speeds and an overall improved performance.”

“We remain committed to Assam-Northeast and will continue to invest in technologies that will help elevate the service experience for our customers,” he added.

Bharti Airtel secured 20Mhz of spectrum at the recently concluded Spectrum Auction. It not only re-acquired the expired spectrum holdings but also expanded its Sub-GHz spectrum and efficiently consolidated its fragmented spectrum blocks into continuous spectrum.

Airtel, to its credit, holds the largest pool of mid-band spectrum. With its diverse spectrum holdings across the 900, 1800, 2100 and 2300 bands, the company is well positioned to serve the growing demand for high-speed data services with 5G and 4G network.

It has also recently started the re-farming of mid-band spectrum for 5G to meet the growing data demands.
