Mumbai: Air India CEO Campbell Wilson announced on Saturday that premium economy class will be introduced in some long-haul international flights.
Speaking at an event to mark the 118th birth anniversary of JRD Tata, Wilson said Air India will introduce the premium economy class from December this year.
The Air India CEO announced to increase its market share to at least 30 per cent on both domestic and international routes.
The Tata Group took over Air India in January this year, and is implementing a long-term revival plan, with the goal of growing its wide-body and narrow-body fleets as well as the global network.
As short-term actions, Air India decided to replace carpets, curtains, seat cushions and covers, and to fix defective seats and in-flight entertainment systems.
“We completely revamped the domestic in-flight menu,” Wilson said, adding that Air India has brought nearly 20 aircraft back into service that were ground due to a lack of funds and parts.
The Air India CEO said the airline has finalised leases for 30 additional aircrafts, and will be delivered during the next 12 months.
Air India has also initiated discussion with Boeing and Airbus latest-generation aircrafts for long-term growth, Wilson claimed.
