Guwahati: Popular YouTuber Samay Raina appeared before Assam Police on Saturday in connection with an ongoing investigation into allegations of promoting obscenity through an online show.
The case, registered by Guwahati Police, names Raina and four other prominent social media influencers for allegedly engaging in vulgar and sexually explicit content on a publicly accessible platform.
Raina, who had earlier informed authorities of his travel abroad, presented himself before the investigating officer at the Crime Branch, where his statement was recorded, a senior officer confirmed.
The case, filed on February 10, includes charges under the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), the IT Act, the Cinematograph Act of 1952, and the Indecent Representation of Women Act, 1986.
The FIR also names influencers Ranveer Allahbadia, Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, and Apoorva Makhija.
Ranveer Allahbadia, also known as BeerBiceps, was previously questioned by police on March 7 and reportedly cooperated fully.
While the Supreme Court granted him protection from arrest, it described the comments made during the show as “vulgar.”
Ashish Chanchlani was the first of the group to appear before police on February 27. He had secured anticipatory bail from the Gauhati High Court earlier, on February 7.

As of now, Jaspreet Singh and Apoorva Makhija have yet to respond in person to police summons, citing travel abroad. Police have reissued summons following their email communications.
In addition to the five influencers, the FIR also includes the owner of the venue where the contentious show was filmed, police said.
The investigation continues amid growing scrutiny of online content creators and the boundaries of free expression in the digital space.
