Guwahati: A youth was arrested in Assam’s Nagaon district for allegedly posting a controversial video on social media containing inflammatory remarks about singer Zubeen Garg’s death, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Saturday.
The accused has been identified as Md Injamul Hoque.
“Md Injamul Hoque (27 years), son of Late Rowsot Uddin of Telia Bebejia, PS–Juria, Nagaon, has been apprehended for posting a controversial video on his Facebook page under the name “SK Ahmad” on 15 October 2025, relating to the unfortunate demise of our beloved Zubeen Garg,” CM Sarma posted on X.
He added, “During interrogation, he admitted to uploading the video himself. He stated that he had obtained the original clip from an OTT platform, after which he added inflammatory remarks through editing before posting it.”
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday announced that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will launch a campaign urging the fast-tracking of the investigation into the death of singer Zubeen Garg and promoting initiatives to preserve his legacy for posterity.
The Chief Minister said the ruling party will roll out a “positive” campaign titled ‘Moiu Zubeen, Amiu Zubeen’ (I am also Zubeen, We are also Zubeen) from October 23, aiming to honour the singer’s contributions and mobilise public support for timely justice.

The state government has also constituted a One-Man Inquiry Commission, headed by Justice Soumitra Saikia of the Gauhati High Court, to probe the circumstances leading to the untimely death of singer Zubeen Garg in Singapore on September 19.
