GUWAHATI: Vice President of India, Jagdeep Dhankhar, is set to grace the Assam civilian awards ceremony today.
The prestigious awards ceremony, organised by the Assam government, aims to recognise and honour exemplary individuals across various fields for their outstanding contributions to society.
Scheduled to take place at the Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra in Guwahati, the event will see the conferment of the highest state civilian awards, namely Assam Baibhav, Assam Saurabh, and Assam Gaurav, upon 22 distinguished individuals.
In anticipation of the Vice President’s visit and to ensure the safety of the public, particularly vulnerable road users, the authorities announced specific traffic restrictions on February 12.
These measures are aimed at facilitating the smooth movement of emergency vehicles and maintaining order on the roads during the Vice President’s visit.
Accordingly, the following restrictions on vehicle movement will be enforced on February 13 –
- Commercial goods carrying vehicles with four wheels and above will face restrictions on several key routes within Guwahati city, including NH-17, AT Road, D.G Road, M.G Road, Taibullah Road, B.Borooah Road, G.S Road, Panjabari Road, and NH-27, from 8 AM to 10 PM.
- Similarly, commercial goods carrying vehicles with three wheels and above will encounter restrictions on designated routes during the same timeframe.
- City buses, ASTC buses, and slow-moving vehicles will be regulated based on the prevailing traffic conditions in the city.
As Guwahati prepares to host the prestigious event, the presence of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar is expected to add a touch of grandeur.
