GUWAHATI: In a move to elevate the Ayush sector in Northeast, Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal launched four transformative initiatives on Friday.
The key highlights of the initiatives include the inauguration of a dedicated Panchakarma block, the first in the region, at the Central Ayurveda Research Institute (CARI).
This state-of-the-art facility, spanning 9453.30 square feet and costing Rs 7.2 crore, will provide Panchakarma therapies at reasonable rates and conduct scientific validation to explore its role in healing patients.
The dedicated Panchakarma Block at CARI, a G+3 building, is equipped with specialised rooms for key Panchakarma therapies, classrooms, and a conference hall.
Simultaneously, a cutting-edge Pharmacology & Biochemistry lab for Ayush, a first in the Northeast, was unveiled.
The laboratories, constructed at a cost of more than ₹6.42 crores, are equipped with modern instruments and the labs will play a crucial role in scientifically validating Ayurvedic formulations.
In a virtual ceremony, the Union Minister laid the foundation stones for the permanent campus of the Regional Research Institute for Homoeopathy (RRIH) and the Integrated Ayush Wellness Centre in Azara, Guwahati.
The foundation stones for the Regional Research Institute of Homoeopathy’s permanent campus, costing ₹53.89 crores, were laid virtually.
The new campus, scheduled for completion by 2026, will feature a 50-bedded IPD unit, OPD services, clinical labs, an emergency unit, and a minor operation theatre.
The Integrated Ayush Wellness Centre is offering treatment and outpatient facilities across Ayurveda, yoga & naturopathy, unani, siddha, and homoeopathy.
Speaking at the event, Minister Sarbananda Sonowal stressed on the government’s commitment to integrating traditional healing practices, into the modern medicinal landscape.
The initiatives aim to create a powerful, integrated medicine approach, promoting both physical health and mental well-being.
