Guwahati: Union Minister Jitendra Singh on Thursday emphasised the government’s commitment to addressing the issues faced by retired employees while leveraging their expertise for nation-building.
Speaking at a press conference after attending a pre-retirement counselling workshop for central government employees in Guwahati, Singh highlighted new measures aimed at easing the challenges faced by retirees and their families, particularly in pension disbursement.
“The employees dedicate their prime years to nation-building. With the growing population of retired individuals, it is our responsibility to resolve their issues,” said the Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances, and Pensions.
He noted that outdated guidelines have been replaced with contemporary rules to support retired employees and their families better.
Singh also underlined the government’s commitment to utilizing the skills and experience of retired personnel for the country’s development.
The minister praised technological advancements introduced by his ministry, including the use of face-recognition technology for issuing digital life certificates.
“This innovation has simplified post-retirement procedures and garnered global attention,” he added.
Singh commended Assam’s performance in implementing central schemes and praised the efforts of the state’s Chief Minister and Chief Secretary for their effective governance.

The workshop, attended by over 300 central government employees set to retire by March 2026, aimed to provide comprehensive guidance for a smooth transition into retirement.
An accompanying exhibition by banks showcased various services available to pensioners.
Singh also highlighted the government’s effort to extend such workshops beyond the national capital, reflecting its commitment to equitable outreach across the country.
